Symphony of animation

A great way to get inspired or get disciplined is to look at professionals.
I found myself often pushing myself to work professional and learning almost everyday, I often caught myself watching the films of Alex Roman over and over.

His films are masterpieces in animation, very artistic combined with great photographic compositioning and perspective.

When fellow art students including myself see one of his films again we tend to get itchy hands, meaning that we are very much inspired to create once more.

Back to the roots

These last few weeks I tend to look back the way I design. When I was younger I had nothing more then pencil and paper. Instead of designing things in high end 3d software and the latest software, I went practicing drawing in photoshop and paper.

In the old days I drew a lot of landscapes, it was easy and it keeps my imagination going.
I still need to boost my anatomy skills and look back at the basics again to refresh the mind.

Practice makes perfect.

What design can do!

This week there is a inspiring conference in amsterdam to get inspired by influential designers all over the world, the speakers listed created a great impact in the design industry

Shooting B&W

I made a lot of pictures during the sunset yesterday, including these black and white photo's. I found it very strong that the silhouettes spring out in the pictures. We were taking photos on a building site, so the security came to escort us off the site.

Capturing the red sun

This week there is a lot of news about the volcano eruption in Iceland, meteorologist also gave news that sunset can look interesting because of the particles floating in the sky.

I called up my friend Serdar a fellow blogger to pack his camera and rush to the bridge were we had the best view of the sunset. We we got there, we got a little disappointed because the horizon was clouded.

But you always have to make the best of it.

expo preview: Futuro (Matti suuronen)

Don't worry, aliens aren't invading the world. If it was, then these aliens are very hip.
It's the Futuro house by Matti Suuronen, this is one of my favorites. It looks modern on the outside and very cozy and compact on the inside.

It was created in the late 60's but not a lot of them remain. Museum Boijmans van Beuningen just bought one of the prototypes, so I am very enchains to see a real one next week.

Internet discovery: Grand bookcase

Books are to read and most people just look trough it. This is to look out for.
I love the design of this huge bookcase and the size it is absolutely phenomenal.

I'm not really sure if this is real or fake. If somebody knows please comment

EXPO: Graduation Tao Chan (personal graduation work)

Inspired by a crystal and forged with the lightest materials.
For this graduation project I used the shapes in the picture I made from a crystal.
There is a reason why I chose a crystal.

The item displayed on this item is a traditional shape seen over many years.
If you look again it contains many modern shapes.
It leads to how I grew up as a child,
I let the traditional way behind me and the way I design is modern
and inspired by deconstructionism.
